9 Weeks to Go!!

Written by Ev:  Can you believe there are only 9 weeks to go until we get married!! Things are certainly moving very quickly now. The florist is booked, hair and makeup are booked, accommodations and venues are organised and we're almost ready to roll. Speaking of that, we need to organise cars yet.

Invitations are at the printers as we speak, and address labels have been printed. Bel and Kal have worked tirelessly with me sending proofs back and forth and we are very grateful for their wonderful work. Check out our custom made design by Belinda - "The Heart that Loves is Always Young".

We love it!!  Bel's blog is http://beljohnstone.com/blog/.

We are pleased to announce that Danial's Aunty Sam was "chuffed" when she accepted to be our MC for the wedding. It will be so good to have Sam introduce us at our Reception. The Bridesmaid dresses have been delivered and the guys suits, well of course they haven't been organised yet, (that will probably happen the day before the wedding). Just kidding Honey! It's a great feeling to have our 'to do list' get a little shorter each month and the wedding is well and truly under control. We're both looking forward to our surprise Hen's and Buck's nights. It's exciting anticipating what is about to happen.

The honeymoon is equally steadily under control. Our Travel Agent Karen from Travel Managers has been fantastic to work with. Confirmation for our Travel Insurance was approved today, our round the world trip flights have been booked and all of our accommodation has been booked. We're just working on smaller details of travel through Europe at the moment. My latest project (because researching the honeymoon a little and organising the wedding isn't enough stress for me) has been to plot exactly where we are staying in each location on a Google map. I have finally figured out how to do it! This will be very handy for us to keep notes of exactly where we need to go and help us see in advance where popular attractions are. Hopefully we'll find things off the beaten track to have a unique experience while we're away. We'll be keeping our google map for us and family only as this blog is a public site and we don't want psychos stalking us.

Anyone like needles? We had 5 yesterday and another to come on Saturday then one for the next 3 weeks. Our nurse was very gentle and quick which was very helpful. We have another 2 scripts to fill and have 4 extras to take with us for emergencies. It's best to be prepared right?

Through our research we have discovered that this year we're going to experience two Autumn's and two Winters. These are the average weather temperatures:

Cape Town     Aug ave temp 13    ave high 17    ave low 8
Livingstone    Aug ave temp 18    ave High 27   ave low 10
Joberg            Aug ave temp 13    ave high 18    ave low 7
Cairo              Aug ave temp 27    ave high 33    ave low 22
London          Aug ave temp 16    ave high 21    ave low 11
Liverpool      Aug ave temp 16    ave high 19    ave low 12
Dublin           Sep ave temp 13     ave high 16    ave low 10
Edinburgh     Sep ave temp 14     ave high 18    ave low 10
Paris             Sep ave temp 16     ave high 20     ave low 11
Rome            Sep ave temp 21     ave high 26     ave low 16
Athens          Oct ave temp 19     ave high 22     ave low 15
Frankfurt      Oct ave temp 10     ave high 13     ave low 6
Munich         Oct ave temp 8       ave high 12     ave low 4
New York     Oct ave temp 14    ave high 18     ave low 9
Niagara F      Oct ave temp 11    ave high 16     ave low 6
Orlando        Oct ave temp 23    ave high 28     ave low 18
Glapagos      Oct ave temp 23    ave high 27     ave low 21
Quito            Oct ave temp 14     ave high 19     ave low 9
Cusco           Nov ave temp 13    ave high 19    ave low 7
Lima            Nov ave temp 20    ave high 22    ave low 17

This will definitely affect how we are going to pack. Extremes from Cairo at 33 degrees, down to a possible 6 degrees. I'm loving the sound of Autumn, but Winter, not so much. We're so please we've been living in Melbourne for two and a half years because we're partly acclimatised. We have our thermals, and very good walking shoes, but still so many other things to get that hopefully will be lightweight. I still can't believe that I am going to have all my gear in a back pack with no wheels!

On the blog I've created additional pages for research containing sketch notes from websites, so they're a little boring to read through, but will be helpful for us. I'm thinking we should book our flights up to Townsville this week for the Wedding. Oh, and I still haven't found shoes yet! but time is still on my side.

Love Ev.

Just a jumper and waterproof jacket is all you'll really have to pack and jeans to deal with those temperatures! After all, the minimum is normally in the middle of the night! You guys are gonna have a ball!

Yeah, the more research we do, the more real and exciting it is. It feels like only yesterday that we were at the Strand when Danial proposed. Time has flown so quickly, but for the most part I'm on track, I think. I do have my panic moments when it's all a bit much but Danial's really supportive and it's great having family and friends who help me organise things, and having Wednesdays off has been the best decisions I made for my sanity. I don't know how people plan their weddings while working fully time! So, we're off for another needle tomorrow. Boo! Just breathe...

Wow - you are going to have such a fabulous time!!

We were in UK in "spring" - so cold we were sleeping in our clothes. Then got to Egypt at 40 degrees with rain-coats in our luggage! All in a back pack for 8 months travel - a bit of discarding and buying along the way.

Rule of thumb was "if you can't carry it yourself, you probably shouldn't have it".

Annie :)

Thanks Bel and Annie, I think I'll need to do a couple of pre-packing trials soon to get rid of the extra things I think I'll want to take but won't need because Danial has said he will NOT be taking any of my stuff... At least the boundaries are clear!
